40 pct of Angola’s exports in 3Q16 were destined for the Mainland

Mainland China remained the biggest destination for Angola’s exports in the third quarter of last year, the Jornal de Angola reported.

The newspaper said exports were worth 565.2 billion kwanzas (US$3.4 billion), citing data from the National Institute of Statistics. It was a 36.3-percent increase from the same period in 2015 and an increase of 30.7-percent from the second quarter.

The newspaper says Angola’s exports to the Mainland in the third quarter, mainly oil, accounted for more than 40 percent of the country’s exports.

The Mainland was the third biggest source market for imports to Angola in the third quarter, accounting for about 12.4 percent of the total. Portugal and the United States were the two biggest sources.

Angola exported 1.41-trillion kwanzas of goods and services in the third quarter, up by 32.5 percent in year-on-year terms, and imports totalled 502.9 billion kwanzas, a 20-percent decrease in year-on-year terms.
