Chinese deputy prosecutor-general visits Mozambique

Chinese Deputy Prosecutor-General Qiu Xueqiang has begun a three-day visit to Mozambique with a view to increasing Sino-Mozambican co-operation in prosecuting crime, O País reports.

The Mozambican newspaper says the discussions Mr Qiu will have during his visit will concentrate on the prevention of crime and bringing Chinese and Mozambican criminals to justice.

The report says Chinese and Mozambican prosecutors are due to talk about how they can help each other in their work, about extraditing suspects that flee to Mozambique to escape justice in China and vice-versa, and about sending home Chinese convicts in Mozambique and Mozambican convicts in China.

The discussions will also cover the possibility of staff of the Mozambican Attorney General’s Office being trained in China, O País says.
