Angolan, Chinese presidents discuss co-operative efforts

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Angolan President João Lourenço met in Beijing before the Sino-African summit meeting which begins there today, the China Global Television Network (CGTN) reports.

The state-run broadcaster says the presidents called for the Sino-Angolan relationship to be raised to a new level.

The report says Mr Lourenço thanked Mr Xi for Chinese support for the social and economic development of Angola.

The presidents witnessed the signing of documents concerning Sino-Angolan co-operation, CGTN says.

Separately, the Portuguese news agency, Lusa, reports that Angola is asking China for €11 billion (US$12.8 billion) in credit, namely to build a new international airport in Luanda.
