The Chinese Embassy in Lisbon has said the China Culture Centre in the Portuguese capital may be completed by the end of next year, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese state-run news agency quotes the embassy as saying preparations to begin construction work are in hand.
The report says Portugal and China agreed last year to set up cultural centres in each other’s capital and other cities.
The two countries have been conducting cultural exchanges in recent years, an example being the first Luso-China Literature Forum, held in June, Xinhua says.
