China gives Cabo Verde equipment for its customs service

China has given the Cabo Verde customs service equipment worth about US$10 million to bring it up to date, Expresso das Ilhas reports.

The Cabo Verde newspaper says the equipment includes a mobile scanner to be deployed in Boa Vista, one baggage screening device for Praia airport and another for Sal airport, and an image control centre that links the scanners in Praia.

The report quotes Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Olavo Correia as saying when the equipment was delivered that it would make Cabo Verde more secure, and make getting through customs quicker.
