China beckons boss of winner of Brazilian start-up contest

A week-long visit to China to learn about doing business there is the prize being offered to the boss of the start-up enterprise that wins the EDP Starter Brasil competition, Portugal Digital reports.

The Portuguese news website, citing a written statement issued by the Brazilian arm of Portuguese venture capital fund EDP Ventures, says six enterprises are in the running.

The report says the enterprises are being mentored by EDP Ventures executives for two months.

The enterprises are in the businesses of artificial intelligence, big data, analytics, new payment methods, smart education platforms and battery energy storage.

EDP Ventures will have the option to invest up to 10 million reais (US$2.7 million) in any of them.

The competition ends next month, Portugal Digital says.
