The government of Angola has told parliament that it expects the economy to grow by 4.9 percent next year, Reuters reports.
The news agency says the forecast is contained in the budget bill for next year.
The report quotes Economic Development Minister Manuel Nunes Júnior as saying: “This is a budget built on very realistic foundations. We want the numbers presented to be perfectly realisable.”
The bill envisages a fiscal deficit next year of 2.9 percent of gross domestic product, Reuters says.
The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the UN Conference on Trade and Development have forecast that Angolan GDP will grow by 1.9 percent this year, by 2.7 percent next year and by 2.7 percent in 2019.
