Expo of Chinese products in full swing in Sao Paulo

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce is holding an exhibition of Chinese products bearing Chinese brands in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says 132 Chinese companies are exhibiting at the China Brand and Product (Latin America) Expo, showing off goods ranging from electrical appliances to day-to-day necessities.

The report says the four-day exhibition opened on Monday.

It quotes Chinese Consul-General in Sao Paulo Chen Peijie as saying at the opening ceremony that the event will spur Sino-Brazilian trade, as Chinese products can satisfy the constantly growing demand in Brazil as consumers there move upmarket.

The Chinese and Brazilian economies are complementary, so the potential for growth in Sino-Brazilian trade is great, Xinhua quotes the consul-general as saying.
