Sino-Portuguese alliance to build transport infrastructure

Two Chinese and two Portuguese companies have agreed co-operate in developing transport infrastructure in some of the Portuguese-speaking Countries, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency says the Portuguese companies are IP Engenharia SA and Infraestruturas de Portugal, and that the Chinese companies are China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group Co. Ltd and China Railway Engineering Corp.

The report says they agreed to co-operate in transport infrastructure projects in Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe.

They may also co-operate in projects in Brazil in due course.

A joint committee set up by the Portuguese and Chinese companies will meet in January to discuss how to raise the money needed to undertake the projects, Lusa says.
