Chinese miners look for minerals in northern Mozambique

Five Chinese companies are trying to assess the extent of mineral reserves in Eráti, in northern Mozambique, AIM reports.

The Mozambican news agency quotes Eráti Administrator Araújo Momade as telling the newspaper Notícias in an interview that the companies have licences to explore and that all have shown interest in mining any minerals they find.

Mr Momade said some of the minerals they prospecting for are quartz, garnets, corundum and tourmaline.

The Chinese companies are also looking for gold, AIM quotes Mr Momade as telling Notícias.
