Attendance of 650 expected at Portuguese travel industry gathering

About 650 people have registered their intention to attend the 43rd National Congress of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, to be held in Macao this month, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) says.

The MGTO issued a written statement saying one highlight of the convention will be a workshop and networking session which will bring together Portuguese travel agents and about 50 travel agencies in important cities in mainland China which are interested in sending tourists to Europe.

The MGTO says the workshop and networking session are meant to drum up business for the travel industry by exploiting the function of Macao as a place where China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries can conduct business.

Portuguese travel agents will be brought up to date on what Macao can offer tourists.

The convention begins on 23 November and ends on 27 November, the MGTO says.
