Macao festival of Chinese, lusophone culture set for July

The Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau has announced that it will put on next month the first festival in Macao of the arts and culture of China and the Portuguese-speaking world.

The bureau issued a written statement saying the event will be called Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The bureau says the event will include a film festival and a gala performance.

On the programme for the film festival, from June 30 to July 13, is the screening of 24 films, along with talks and discussions.

The films to be shown were made in Mainland China, Macao, Portugal, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and other countries in southern Africa.

The gala performance, on July 6, will feature the Chinese Gansu Performing Arts Troupe and performers from eight of the Portuguese-speaking Countries, the Cultural Affairs Bureau says.
