Over 17,000 passengers avail of direct China-Portugal flights

Beijing Capital Airlines says its direct service between China and Portugal has carried over 17,000 passengers since it began on July 26th.

The airline issued a written statement saying it has completed 88 return flights from the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou to Lisbon via Beijing, and that 81.4 percent the seats were filled.

The thrice-weekly flights are the first direct air service between China and Portugal.

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa presented Beijing Capital Airlines with the Outstanding Company Award at the 4th Portugal-China Gala, the airline says.
