Chinese and Mozambican state-owned companies have agreed to co-operate in oil and gas exploration and production, engineering technology, oil refining and logistics, the Chinese Embassy in Maputo has announced.
The embassy issued a written statement saying China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and Mozambican national oil and gas company ENH have agreed to set up a new venture, called China-Mozambique Petroleum Engineering Co.
The embassy said such co-operation could help Mozambique develop its own petrochemicals industry.
CNPC has been engaged in offshore gas exploration and production projects in Mozambique since 2013, the statement says.
