US$20 mln invested in Angola by Chinese engineering company

An executive of the Angolan arm of China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd (CPPE) has said the Chinese state-owned enterprise has invested about US$20 million in oil and gas storage projects in Angola, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes CPPE Angola general manager Xing Hang as saying, on the sidelines of the Angola Oil and Gas 2019 conference, held in Angolan capital Luanda, that in its first six years in Angola his company had also built roads and water supply systems.

Mr Xing praised on Tuesday ongoing reforms of the Angolan oil industry as indispensable.

Angolan President João Lourenço said during the conference opening session he would push through reforms meant to improve the environment for investors in his country, and encouraged foreign oil companies to invest there, Lusa says.
