Portugal’s Albufeira ready to help establish a school to teach Mandarin

The Chinese Embassy has presented a proposal to create a Mandarin school in Albufeira, a popular resort city in Portugal’s southern Algarve region, Diário Online Algarve reports.

Two representatives from the Chinese Embassy have met the President of the Albufeira Municipality, Carlos Silva e Sousa, who indicated the municipality would support the initiative.

“The Chinese community in Algarve has a significant presence and is well integrated in Albufeira, where it is very welcomed by the local population. It makes sense to have a Mandarin school in Albufeira,” the report quoted Mr Silva e Sousa as saying.

Both parties expressed a willingness to expand their co-operation in the future.
