Beijing offers 3 mln yuan for health projects in Cape Verde

The Mainland says it will donate about 3 million yuan (US$435,700) to fund healthcare-related projects in Cape Verde, reports Rádio Televisão de Cabo Verde.

According to the government broadcaster, Cape Verde’s co-operation with the Mainland in healthcare will be boosted primarily by improving ties with Sichuan, a province that has sent medical teams to the African nation.

Medical teams will be sent to Baptista de Sousa Hospital, the report says. Medical staff have previously been sent to Agostinho Neto Hospital in Praia.

Officials from Sichuan will visit Cape Verde on Friday and Saturday to assess the project’s requirements, with a view to commencing on collaborations from March.

The new developments come after Cape Verde’s Minister of Health, Arlindo do Rosário, visited the mainland last week.

He took part in the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion and a seminar on Sino-African collaboration in health.
