The Mainland has delivered 1.2 tonnes of rice to Cape Verde in support of a meal distribution programme for schools, kindergartens and charities, Inforpress reports.
The Cape-Verdean news agency says the donation was made last Friday in the capital, Praia.
China was prepared to co-operate more with Cape Verde to supply food to help the country minimise its reliance on imports, the Ambassador to Cape Verde, Du Xiaocong, was quoted as saying.
The donation represented “a very great reinforcement” of the work of the meal programme, according to Cape Verdean School Social Action Foundation president Felisberto Moreira.
