Students at Portuguese poly enter Chinese skills contest

The Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal in Portugal has sent four of its students to China to compete in a vocational skills contest, the China Education Daily reports.

The Chinese Ministry of Education-run newspaper says the attendance of the Portuguese students is a result of the opening of a Luban Workshop in Portugal last year.

The report says the Luban Workshops around the world are technical and vocational training establishments set up by the authorities in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin under the guidance of the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The head of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal School of Engineering, Nuno Pereira, hopes more Portuguese students will attend the Luban Workshop, which has had a profound impact in Portugal, the China Education Daily says.
