Minister says pension reform to set Brazilian economy right

Brazilian Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said on Monday the economy will resume growing sustainably once pension arrangements have been reformed, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes Mr Guedes as saying after talks with President Jair Bolsonaro that economic growth around the world is slowing as the effects of central bank stimulus wear off.

The report quotes Mr Bolsonaro as saying that in an ideal world his government would stick to its budget, but that in the real world its revenue was falling.

In a separate report, Reuters says official data indicate that the Brazilian services purchasing managers index fell to 49.9 points last month from 52.7 points the month before.

A weekly survey by the central bank found that among analysts for financial institutions, the median forecast of the rate of Brazilian economic growth this year has fallen to 1.49 percent, the news agency says.
