University of Macau, Ciência Viva agree to co-operate

The University of Macau’s Macao Base for Primary and Secondary STEM Education and the Portuguese body that promotes science, technology and culture, Ciência Viva, have agreed to co-operate in teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the University of Macau says.

The university issued a written statement saying the agreement provides for the holding of events in Macao and Portugal to stimulate public interest in science with a view to increasing exchanges between Chinese students and Portuguese students.

The agreement exploits the function of Macao as a conduit between China and the lusophone world.

Ciência Viva President Maria Rosália Vargas Esteves Lopes da Mota and University of Macau Rector Song Yonghua met recently in Macao and expressed hope that their institutions can co-operate in using the strength of the university in teaching science for the purpose of training professionals, the University of Macau statement says.
