Envoy envisages wider Sino-Angolan economic co-operation

Chinese Ambassador to Angola Gong Tao has said his country is open to forms of economic co-operation by China and Angolan other than the usual state lines of credit for oil, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Gong as saying so after meeting Josefina Diakité, who chairs the foreign affairs and international cooperation committee of the Angolan legislature.

Mr Gong said China was willing to increase Sino-Angolan co-operation in manufacturing and agriculture, as Angola was trying to attract foreign investment to make its economy more diverse.

The Angolan government is creating an environment more favourable for investment, and Chinese investors should come to Angola to see for themselves, Lusa quotes the ambassador as saying.
