Brazilian vice-president to begin visit to China on May 16

Brazilian Vice-president Hamilton Mourão will begin his forthcoming visit to China on May 16 and stay there 10 days, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes Mr Mourão as saying he will visit Beijing and Shanghai, and reactivate the China-Brazil Bilateral Co-operation Commission.

Last week Reuters reported that Brazilian Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina Dias would precede Mr Mourão to China next month for talks about increasing Brazilian exports of meat to China.

Chinese permission for more imports of Brazilian meat might be announced during Mourão’s visit, Reuters quoted Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming as saying.
