Chinese home appliance makers keen on Brazilian market

A growing number of Chinese makers of household appliances hope to sell their wares in Brazil as the economy there in general and consumption in particular recover from a slump, the People’s Daily reports.

The Chinese Communist Party newspaper says nearly 120 Chinese companies took part in the China Home Appliances and Electronics Brand Show (Latin America), part of the Eletrolar Show Brazil 2018 held in the Brazilian city of São Paulo last month.

The report quotes an official of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Wu Zhengping, as saying China would supply Latin America with more household appliances and electronic products this year, in view of the political stability of Brazil and the recovery of its economy.

The value of Chinese exports of household appliances and electronic products to Brazil in the first quarter of this year was US$460 million, 40 percent more than a year earlier, the People’s Daily says.
