Angolan special economic zone wants more Chinese investment

Angolan Ambassador to China João Salvador Neto dos Santos has said the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone in his country is hoping for more Chinese investment, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes the ambassador as telling the Angola-China Investment Forum, held in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Saturday, that Angola welcomed Chinese investment, and that its government would protect the rights and interests of foreign investors.

The report quotes Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone Chief Executive António Henriques da Silva as telling the conference that the zone wished to build up its healthcare, metals, farm equipment and energy industries.

The Angolan government set up the zone on about 840,000 hectares of land in 2009, Xinhua says.
