Closer ties between São Tomé e Príncipe, Guangdong discussed

Governor Ma Xingrui of the southern Chinese province of Guangdong has expressed his willingness to increase engagement between his province and São Tomé e Príncipe in trade, in the agricultural, fisheries tourism and health industries, and in cultural matters, South CN reports.

The website quotes Mr Ma as saying so when he met São Tomé e Príncipe Prime Minister Jorge Bom Jesus on the southern Chinese island of Hainan, where they are attending the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019.

Mr Ma said there was great potential for economic engagement because São Tomé e Príncipe was rich in agricultural and fisheries resources, and in tourist attractions.

The report quotes Mr Bom Jesus as saying his government welcomes Guangdong enterprises looking for opportunities to trade with São Tomé e Príncipe or invest there.

São Tomé e Príncipe hopes to increase engagement with Guangdong in trade and investment, in the agricultural, education, tourism industries, and in building infrastructure, South CN quotes the prime minister as saying.
