China Road and Bridge on track to finish dredging Angolan port of Caio in 2020

China Road and Bridge Corp should complete its work on the Caio deepwater port in Angola’s Cabinda province by 2020, the Angop news agency reports.

The president of the Caio Porto management company, Jack Helton, said work was progressing to dredge the coast where the port will be built.

The deepwater port will have a birth 16 metres deep and 1,130 metres long. It will be capable of accommodating four large ships simultaneously and be able to move about 60 containers an hour.

Caio will be Angola’s first deep-water port. It was partially financed by a US$600-million loan from the Export and Import Bank of China.
