Minister says Portugal wants to export more to China

Portuguese Economy Minister Pedro Siza Vieira has said his country wishes to export more goods and services to China and attract more Chinese tourists, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Vieira as telling a seminar held in Lisbon in anticipation of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Portugal today and tomorrow that his government hopes Chinese investors will progress from buying up finance, energy and media assets and companies to making productive investments in fields such as manufacturing motor vehicles.

Mr Vieira said Sino-Portuguese ties had been consolidated in recent years, making China an important trading partner for Portugal.

Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run told the seminar that Mr Xi’s visit would be a success and bear fruit, Lusa says.
