Chinese Film Week in Portugal begins in the capital

Chinese Film Week in Portugal has begun in Lisbon, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says seven Chinese films will be shown in cinemas in various parts of Portugal.

The report quotes the head of the Chinese State Film Administration, Wang Xiaohui, as remarking at the opening of Chinese Film Week that Sino-Portuguese exchanges have been going on for 500 years.

Mr Wang said he hoped Chinese Film Week would increase Sino-Portuguese cinema exchanges and co-operation, give Chinese and Portuguese a better understanding of each other’s culture and enhance Sino-Portuguese friendship.

Chinese Film Week is an opportunity to make Chinese films more popular in Europe and elsewhere in the West, Xinhua quotes the head of the Portuguese film institute, Luís Vaz, as saying.
