Cabo Verde Investment Forum to be held in July

The first Cabo Verde Investment Forum will open on the Cabo Verde island of Sal on July 1 and close on July 3, Inforpress reports.

The Cabo Verde news agency says the Cabo Verde government and the Higher Council of Chambers of Commerce and Tourism are jointly putting on the conference.

The report says a precursor to the conference was an international meeting in Paris last December which discussed how to build partnerships for the sustainable development of Cabo Verde.

It quotes Cabo Verde Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Olavo Correia as saying his government intends to bring together investors, venture capitalists, bankers, insurers, representatives of international financial institutions and others interested in putting money into tourism, transport, technology, manufacturing, commerce and other industries in his country.

Almost €2 billion (about US$2.26 billion) has already been promised for projects that are due to begin soon, Inforpress quotes Mr Correia as saying.
