Ahead of further collaboration, Beijing offers 10,000 tonnes of rice to Mozambique

China will offer 10,000 tonnes of rice for emergency programmes in Mozambique, the O País newspaper reports.

The donation will help support people most affected by drought in the African nation.

Mozambique Prime-Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário was in Macao this week to take part in the 5thMinisterial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. After the event, he was quoted as saying Mozambique would identify priority projects to be funded by the mainland.

“We talked to China’s Premier in an honest meeting in which he said China was willing to help Mozambique to increase its production capacity. So, we are committed to deliver a list of specific projects by the end of this month,” Mr Rosário was quoted as saying.
