China among top investors in Angolan oil industry in 2018Q3

Official data indicate that China invested US$245 million in the Angolan oil industry in the third quarter of last year, and that only the United States and France invested more, O País reports.

The Angolan newspaper, citing figures given by the Angolan central bank, says third-quarter foreign direct investment in Angola amounted to over US$1.9 billion, of which US$1.6 billion was invested in the oil industry.

The report says debt made up 57 percent of the value of assets in Angola held by foreigners, direct investments made up 32 percent, and portfolio investments made up 6.2 percent.

The central bank figures indicate that Angolans have invested US$3.23 billion in Mauritius, US$1.1 billion in Singapore and US$889 million in Portugal, O País says.
