Cabo Verde exports up 44.3 pct in 2018

Official data indicate that the annual value of Cabo Verde exports rose by 44.3 percent last year while the value of imports fell by 1.2 percent, Inforpress reports.

The Cabo Verde news agency, citing preliminary figures given by the National Statistics Institute, says Europe bought 95.9 percent of the exports, Spain alone buying 78.4 percent.

The report says 60.9 percent of Cabo Verde exports last year were prepared and preserved fish; 18.1 percent were fish, crustaceans and molluscs; and 8.9 percent were clothes.

Portugal was the source of 40.6 percent of Cabo Verde imports last year and Spain the source of 13.9 percent, Inforpress says.
