Chinese firms likely to take part in Brazil’s privatisation plan: Ambassador

Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming has said his Government is willing to encourage Chinese companies to buy or run public-sector assets for which the Brazilian government is seeking private partners or operators, Agência Brasil reports.

The news agency quotes Mr Yang as saying so in talks with Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications Marcos Pontes.

Mr Yang said China wished to cooperate with Brazil in every field.

He said cooperation by China and Brazil in science, technology and defence had grown smoothly, serving the interests of both.

The relationship between China’s Government and that of new Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will benefit Chinese and Brazilians alike in their efforts to develop their countries, Agência Brasil quotes Mr Yang as saying.

A Reuters report this week quotes a Brazilian official as saying his country would welcome more Chinese investment in infrastructure projects.
