AliExpress Single’s Day orders by Portuguese nearly double

Portuguese made at least 300,000 orders on AliExpress during the annual Single’s Day sale which the shopping website held on November 11 and 12, Economia Online reports.

The Portuguese news website says the number of orders was almost twice the number last year.

The report says the Portuguese post office, known as CTT, and AliExpress, which is run by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd of China, got together this year to offer Portuguese shoppers Single’s Day bargains.

It quotes a CTT executive, Alberto Pimenta, as saying: “The volume of orders obtained through the partnership between CTT and Alibaba Group’s AliExpress confirms that Portuguese are increasingly predisposed to buy online and that they have confidence in e-commerce.”

Other news media reported previously that AliExpress set up for the first time this year a website exclusively for Portuguese shoppers to use during Single’s Day.
