Portugal supports China’s strategy to go global, says minister Cabral

Portugal is part of Mainland China’s internationalisation strategy, the Sino-Portuguese Economic Forum One Belt, One Road has heard.

The Portuguese news agency Lusa quoted the comments of Portugal’s Minister for the Economy Manuel Caldeira Cabral at Tuesday’s opening of the summit in
Estoril, near the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

Portugal “has built bridges between Asia and Europe, [besides being] a gateway to Europe, to invest, to live in or simply to be in the European market,” Lusa reported Mr Cabral as saying. Portugal, like Mainland China, he said, was promoting “opening up to the world and to investment”.

The summit was the first Sino-Portuguese Economic Forum and celebrated the launch of the online version of the People’s Daily newspaper in Portuguese.
