Qingdao businesspeople on mission to Portugal

The mayor of the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao is leading a business mission to Portugal, the Portuguese trade and investment agency, AICEP, has announced.

A written announcement says representatives of five Qingdao companies are in Mayor Wang Jiaxin’s party.

AICEP says the companies are in the businesses of engineering, construction, furniture manufacturing, aquaculture and fishing.

The visitors attended a one-day seminar in Lisbon on economic and cultural exchanges between their city and Portugal, which was addressed by Mr Wang and Chinese Ambassador in Lisbon Cai Run.

Those attending heard presentations on investment opportunities in both places and remarks by Sino-Portuguese Merchants and Industrialists Association President Cai Wenxian, saw displays put on for the Qingdao companies and took part in a networking session.

AICEP and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce jointly arranged the seminar, AICEP says.
