Standard Bank Angola SA, the Angolan arm of Standard Bank Group Ltd of South Africa, has set up the first banking website in the Chinese language to be offered by the group, Business Report reports.
The South African news website says Standard Bank Group will offer internet banking in Chinese elsewhere in Africa next year.
The report says Standard Bank Group began offering the service in Angola because of the large number of Chinese businesspeople and the familiarity with online banking there.
It quotes a Standard Bank Group executive, Adrian Vermooten, as saying the take-up among Chinese customers has been hugely encouraging.
Lessons learned in Angola will be applied in offering internet banking in Chinese elsewhere in Africa, Business Report quotes Mr Vermooten as saying.
