Macao ready to further develop role as commercial and trade service platform

The Macao Government will enhance efforts to transform the SAR into a commercial and trade co-operation service platform for the Mainland and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Macao’s Secretary for Economy and Finance Leong Vai Tac announced a set of targets during the second meeting of the Committee for Development of the Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Monday’s meeting heard that Macao should develop as “a centre for innovation and youth entrepreneurship serving entrepreneurs based in China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, Mr Leong said in a Government statement.

Mr Leong also advocated “speeding up the establishment of a system for trade credit insurance”, a pilot scheme to enable the Portuguese-speaking Countries to recognise traditional Chinese medicines, more promotion of the Portuguese-speaking Countries at MICE events and the advancement of Macao’s role delivering trade and financial services.
