Portugal, Mainland agree to a series of measures to boost bilateral trade

Lisbon and Beijing have agreed to measures that remove some obstacles to bilateral trade, the Portuguese government has announced.

Portugal’s Secretary of State of Tax Affairs, Fernando Rocha Andrade, met Mainland Chinese officials recently to discuss ways to improve trade and direct investment, the Lisbon government said in an official release.

Both countries have agreed to adopt extraordinary customs procedures to facilitate international trade through a project called Smart and Secure Trade Lanes. Both nations will also work to establish a maritime trade route.

A deal to clarify issues on avoiding double taxation has also been reached.
