Prime minister of São Tomé and Príncipe schedules Mainland visit this week

São Tomé and Príncipe’s Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada begins an official visit to Mainland China tomorrow, where he will sign newly struck co-operation deals between the two nations, Lusa reports.

“We will sign a number of agreements; one of general co-operation with China, and others aimed at specific projects in specific sectors,” the Portuguese news agency quoted Mr Trovoada as saying.

The week-long tour is the first state visit by the São Tomé and Príncipe leader since diplomatic ties were restored in December.

“This visit to China will mark a milestone in our bilateral relations, as well as an important step regarding the economic development of São Tomé and Príncipe, especially in the field of infrastructure,” Mr Trovoada said.
