Envoy says Angolan, Chinese lawmakers aiming for closer ties

Chinese Ambassador to Angola Gong Tao has said the Chinese and Angolan legislatures will look for new ways to work together, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Gong as saying after a meeting with a leading Angolan lawmaker, Lukamba Gato, that the visit to Angola in June of Wang Chen, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, helped strengthen the relationship between the legislatures.

The report says Mr Gato is the vice-speaker of the Third Specialised Committee of the Angolan National Assembly, which deals with foreign affairs, international cooperation and the Angolan communities abroad.

Africa as a whole is on the road to development, possessing natural resources and people with potential, Xinhua quotes Mr Gong as saying.
