Brazil’s exports to Mainland China at start of year are close to double last year’s

The value of Brazil’s exports to Mainland China nearly doubled in the first two months of this year, driven by a price hike for raw materials, the state-run Xinhua news agency reports.

Exports from Brazil to the Mainland were worth US$6.25 billion in January and February, representing a 94.3-percent-increase in year-on-year terms, according to the data in the report, taken from the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services.

Oil, iron, soybeans accounted for 77 percent of Brazilian exports to start the year, but wood pulp and beef were also significant exports.

The Mainland was the leading export destination for Brazilian agricultural products, representing 23.9 percent of the total in February, the report says.
