China shows strong interest in Brazil: President Temer

Mainland organisations are investing in Brazilian infrastructure in “a big way”, Brazilian President Michel Temer told The Financial Times this week.

“They [Mainland companies] are coming to Brazil in a big way… and they are very interested in [public] concessions,” the newspaper quoted Mr Temer as saying in an interview.

Mr Temer was referring to his government’s offering of 34 concessions to public companies. Included in the scheme are pieces of infrastructure such as ports, airports and roads.

Mr Temer says Mainland companies are “strong contenders” for those concessions.

In 2009, China overtook the United States as Brazil’s single biggest trading partner.
