ICBC finances construction of power plant in Angola

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China will provide US$837 million to fund 85 percent of the construction of a combined-cycle power plant in Soyo, in far northern Angola, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency cites an official document, signed in the first half of last year, two years after Chinese companies began construction at the power plant. The natural gas-powered plant is due to come online in the first quarter.

The project also involves building a 400-km transmission line between Soyo and Luanda.
