Macao, Brazil to co-operate more closely in legal matters

The Macao SAR Government is willing to have more exchanges and co-operate more closely with Brazil in the field of the law, Jornal Tribuna de Macau reports.

The newspaper quotes a written statement issued by Macao Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan. “In the field of administration and justice, preliminary work on judicial co-operation with Brazil is being launched,” she says, adding both countries will co-operate more closely in tourism and other economic matters, so enhancing the performance of Macao as a place where China and Portuguese-speaking countries can do business.

Her comments came after meeting a visiting Brazilian delegation belonging to the Brazil-China Parliamentary Group. The delegation’s leader, Herculano Passos, is quoted as saying its members learned more about Macao and gained an appreciation of Macao’s experience with legal matters.
