More Chinese visitors to São Tomé e Príncipe in prospect

Chinese Ambassador to São Tomé e Príncipe Wang Wei has announced that his government has added São Tomé e Príncipe to the list of countries that it is happy for Chinese to visit, STP-Press reports.

The São Tomé e Príncipe state-run news agency says inclusion in the list may increase the number of Chinese tourists that visit the country.

The report quotes Mr Wang as saying China will support the efforts of other African countries to be added to the list.

Mr Wang said one result of the Sino-African summit meeting in Beijing last month might be the opening of a Confucius Institute in São Tomé e Príncipe.

STP-Press also quotes the ambassador as saying his government intends to hold a Sino-African trade fair annually, to encourage Chinese companies to invest in Africa, to establish a Sino-African free trade zone and to give African countries incentives to issue debt denominated in yuan.
