Moody’s expects more Chinese to visit Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde is among the African countries most likely to benefit from an increase in the number of Chinese tourists that visit the continent, Moody’s Investors Service says.

A report by the credit rating agency says that as Chinese become wealthier, more may visit Africa.

The report says that although only 1.5 percent of Chinese tourists going abroad visit Africa, the number visiting the continent has risen at an average annual rate of 30 percent since 2012.

The African countries with the greatest drawing power for tourists are Cabo Verde, South Africa, Mauritius, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, Namibia, Botswana, Tunisia and Tanzania, and they are the countries most likely to benefit from growth in the number of Chinese tourists, Moody’s says.
