Six Chinese fishing boats net 30 pct of Angolan market

Fuhai Atlantic Fishing Co. Ltd of China has 30 per cent of the market for fish in Angola, making it the leading fishing company there, the China Daily reports.

The Chinese government-run newspaper quotes the founder of Fuhai Atlantic Fishing, Meng Qingyong, as saying so.

The report quotes Mr Meng as saying his company invested 100 million yuan (US$15.38 million) in the Angolan market last year, and made a profit last year of 300,000 yuan a month, on average.

Fuhai Atlantic Fishing has six fishing vessels, each capable of catching about 200 metric tonnes of fish a day.

The company catches mainly European pilchard in the waters off Angola, which it sells in Angola and Europe, the China Daily says.
