Envoy inspects Sino-Portuguese academic facility in Zhejiang

Portuguese Ambassador to China José Augusto Duarte has inspected the progress made by the Portugal-China Joint Innovation Centre for Advanced Materials at Zhejiang University in eastern China, the university has announced.

The university issued a statement saying Mr Duarte visited last week.

Zhejiang University says the centre was established in 2013, with the support of the Chinese and Portuguese governments, to engender Sino-Portuguese co-operation in fields such as biomedical sciences, materials for protecting the environment, materials for tapping energy and nanotechnology.

The centre consolidates the abilities of Chinese and Portuguese industries to innovate, and facilitates the application in the market of the results of the research they do, the statement quotes an official of the university, Zheng Qiang, as saying.
